Privacy Policy

Effective date: June 7, 2026 · Brushi by Sense Science Lab Ltd

This Privacy Policy describes how Sense Science Lab Ltd (“Senscilab,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information in Brushi, our coloring app for children ages 4–6. We designed Brushi for the App Store Kids Category and take children’s privacy seriously.

1. Who we are

Brushi is published by Sense Science Lab Ltd. If you have questions about this policy, contact us at hello@senscilab.com.

2. Information we collect

We do not collect personal information from children. Brushi does not require an account, username, email address, or profile. We do not ask children to enter their name, age, location, or contact details.

We do not use third-party analytics SDKs or services (for example, Firebase Analytics, Amplitude, Mixpanel, Adjust, AppsFlyer, Facebook SDK, Google Analytics, Crashlytics, or Sentry). We do not collect analytics data from children or adults.

We do not use third-party advertising networks and do not display ads in Brushi—behavioral, contextual, or otherwise.

We do not sell personal information.

3. Information stored on your device

Brushi stores the following data locally on your device only:

  • Coloring progress and drawings — saved pages, free-draw artwork, and in-progress strokes so your child can continue later.
  • App preferences — such as background music volume, coach voice selection, coach feedback on/off, and language choice.
  • Purchase state — whether Brushi Premium has been unlocked, verified through Apple’s StoreKit on your device.

This information stays on the device unless you explicitly choose to export a finished drawing (see Section 4).

4. Photo Library access

When a parent or guardian uses the Save feature, Brushi may add a finished coloring page to the device’s Photos library. Brushi only writes an image when Save is tapped; we do not read or upload your photo library. Saving is optional and can be controlled through iOS permissions.

5. In-app purchases

Brushi Premium is a one-time, non-consumable purchase processed entirely by Apple through your Apple ID. We do not receive your payment card details. Apple may collect purchase-related information according to Apple’s privacy policy. Parents must complete purchases; Brushi uses a parental gate before any purchase or restore flow.

6. On-device coach and model download

Brushi offers an optional spoken “coach” that reacts to coloring activity. Coach responses are generated entirely on your device from the current canvas image. We do not send your child’s drawings, prompts, or personal information to Senscilab servers for this feature.

On first launch (or if the local cache is cleared), Brushi may download on-device AI coach model weight files from Liquid AI’s Leap model registry over a secure (HTTPS) connection. Only model binaries are transferred—not your child’s artwork or personal data. After download, these files are cached in the app’s Application Support directory on the device. All coach inference runs locally; coloring images are not uploaded to Senscilab or to Liquid for coaching.

7. Third-party services

Children’s drawings, names, and personal information are not shared with third parties for marketing, analytics, or advertising. Limited interaction with third parties occurs only as follows:

  • Apple (StoreKit) — Brushi Premium is a one-time non-consumable in-app purchase. Apple processes payment and entitlement verification through your Apple ID. We do not receive payment card data.
  • Liquid Leap SDK (model download only) — As described in Section 6, the app may download coach model files over HTTPS. No child content is transmitted.
  • On-device open-source components — Coach speech and vision use Sherpa-ONNX, Piper (Alba), Kokoro (Sky, Bella, Emma, Sarah), espeak-ng, and llama.cpp-compatible inference via Leap. All processing stays on the device; Brushi does not use Google Gemini or other cloud AI APIs for coaching. License notices are in our Acknowledgements.
  • Apple Photos (optional) — When a parent or guardian taps Save, Brushi may add a finished image to the device Photos library (add-only permission). Images are not uploaded to Senscilab or any third party.
  • Apple text-to-speech (optional) — Device voice and non-English coach languages use on-device Apple voices. Speech and drawings are not uploaded to Apple for this feature.
  • senscilab.com (optional) — Privacy Policy, Terms of Use, and Acknowledgements open in Safari only after a parental gate inside the app. No child data is transmitted when these pages are viewed.

We do not operate child accounts or backend servers that store child content.

8. Analytics and tracking

We do not use third-party analytics or advertising trackers in Brushi. We do not track children across apps or websites. We do not request App Tracking Transparency permission because we do not engage in cross-app tracking. Brushi’s Privacy Manifest declares that the app does not track users and does not declare App Store privacy data types for collection by Senscilab.

9. External links

Brushi may link to this website (for example, Privacy Policy, Terms of Use, and Acknowledgements). Opening an external link requires a parent or guardian to pass a simple adult verification gate inside the app.

10. Children’s privacy (COPPA and similar laws)

Brushi is directed to children under 13 and is designed to comply with the U.S. Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and comparable laws. Because we do not collect personal information from children, we do not provide a separate parental consent flow for data collection—we simply do not collect it.

Parents and guardians may contact us at hello@senscilab.com with any questions or concerns about their child’s use of Brushi.

11. Data retention and deletion

Drawings and preferences remain on your device until you delete the app or remove saved content inside Brushi. Uninstalling Brushi removes locally stored app data from your device.

12. Security

Because Brushi keeps creative work on the device and does not operate child accounts on our servers, the primary way to protect your child’s content is to use your device’s passcode, Face ID, or Touch ID and to supervise app use.

13. International users

Brushi is available in multiple regions through the App Store. If you use Brushi outside your home country, your information still remains on your device as described above.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date at the top of this page. Material changes will be reflected here; please review this page periodically.

15. Open-source and third-party components

Brushi uses on-device open-source and third-party components for speech and vision-language coaching, including Liquid AI (Leap SDK and LFM2.5-VL), Sherpa-ONNX, Piper (Alba voice), Kokoro (Sky, Bella, Emma, Sarah), espeak-ng, llama.cpp-compatible inference via Leap, and Apple text-to-speech for device voices and non-English languages. Brushi does not use Google Gemini cloud APIs. Full copyright and license notices are in our Acknowledgements page.
